Advocacy with Legislators
All faculty interested in supporting UF's goals in the legislative process are encouraged to join Gators for Higher Education. This organization, based at the Alumni Association, sends out alerts when pending legislation affects UF, and invites participants to contact their legislators at appropriate moments. The way to become more directly involved, consistent with the laws regulating lobbying, is to work through the office of Jane Adams, the Vice President of University Relations, and a registered lobbyist for UF. All faculty are welcome at any time to write Vice President Adams at email@example.com if they become aware of an issue relevant to her work.
Meet with Legislators
In addition, you are invited to register with University Relations to indicate your availability to speak with legislators. All faculty who volunteer to speak with legislators are asked to attend a training session to prepare to represent the university most effectively and to learn about the legislative process. If you would like to participate, please click the link below to fill out a form. Indicate your areas of expertise and your potential availability to travel. There are no correct answers for the following questions, but the information gathered will assist University Relations to determine how best to draw on the contributions faculty can offer.
